Day 1

ALBURY- SYDNEY - NORFOLK ISLAND FRIDAY 26TH NOVEMBER, 2021
Welcome to our 8 Day Tour to Norfolk Island. We depart Albury Airport 6.30am with Qantas, and on arrival in Sydney we transfer to the international terminal for our Air New Zealand flight across to Norfolk Island. On arrival we are met by a representative from Pinetree Tours. We will be welcomed to the island then transferred to our accommodation at the South Pacific Resort. Set in lush subtropical gardens with mountain and valley views, we have the perfect surroundings to ease ourselves into our environment. The resort is located in the township of Burnt Pine so we’ll have the ability to wander through the shops during our free time. The remainder of the day is at our leisure. Dinner this evening is at the resort.

Day 2

DISCOVER NORFOLK ISLAND SATURDAY 27TH NOVEMBER
Following breakfast we are collected by Pinetree Tours for their ½ Day Island Sightseeing Tour.a must for every visitor! We visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and much more. See and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches and the golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, their Government, laws and lifestyle. We stop for a delicious morning tea in the garden of an island home then return to our resort for some free time for lunch and to relax this afternoon. Following an early dinner we travel into the bushland of Norfolk Island. It is here that we are treated to a Wonderland By Night! The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines and bushland lit up like an enchanted forest. We’ll meander along (or ride in the 'Moon Buggy') a winding pathway with Archie, a descendant of the Bounty Mutineers, as he recites his poems and lights up the dioramas throughout the bush. Afterwards we enjoy a light supper.

Day 3

RELAXING NORFOLK ISLAND SUNDAY 28TH NOVEMBER
Following breakfast, we have the opportunity to join a church service if we wish. If not, perhaps a wander through the Sunday Markets to snap up a bargain or two. Later we are collected by Baunti Escapes for our visit to the clifftop property of Forresters Court, overlooking Cascade Bay. On the magnificent lawns we’ll be served a delicious High Tea with decadent food and a glass of sparkling wine. A beautifully presented setting with linen and fine china we enjoy our tea and coffee and a selection of local liqueurs to round out our indulgent afternoon. The remainder of the day is at our leisure and tonight we can meet again over dinner by the pool.

Day 4

MORE OF NORFOLK MONDAY 29TH NOVEMBER
Emily Bay is our destination this morning. Here we board our Glass bottom boat for a tour to discover Norfolk’s unique marine life. We’ll view beautiful coral and tropical fish inside the calm, crystal waters of the lagoon. This afternoon we visit the magnificent 360 degree panoramic painting at Cyclorama. This is an amazing pictorial history of the ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ which will help us to understand the history of Norfolk Island along with the storyboards and maps with interesting detail. Tonight we go back in time to 1859. We have been invited to dine with Chief Magistrate Frederick Young and his wife Mary. However there has been a young English surveyor from Sydney found washed up on the cove south-east of Point Hunter!!...... Dine on a 3-course dinner while you help solve the mystery of 'Who Killed the Surveyor?'

Day 5

LOCAL TOURING TUESDAY 30TH NOVEMBER
After breakfast we join Baunti Tours for the Norfolk Today Tour. We’ll learn how Norfolk Islanders live in the 21st century and make life on this tiny South Pacific Island possible. How is petrol and gas brought to the island? How is the island powered? This is a behind the scenes tour where we’ll meet the locals and see how Norfolk plays a role in the worldwide weather monitoring as well as visiting the community radio station. This afternoon with Pinetree Tours we are taken on the Convict Kingston Tour and learn about world heritage listed Kingston. We’ll hear about the first settlers, the Polynesians who came 900 years ago and learn the facts and legends associated with the first and second convict settlements. Tonight Pinetree Tours will take us out to enjoy the delightful Island Fish Fry - a traditional Island Fish Feast with local fish, island dishes, salads and desserts. Overlooking breathtaking coastal scenery as the sun sets - with live music in the background by local entertainment from the Baunti Byuutis dancing group .

Day 6

NORFOLK ICONS WEDNESDAY 1ST DECEMBER
Our breakfast setting will be a little different this morning as we can either take a stroll or, for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk with Pinetree Tours. We’ll meet up for our BBQ Breakfast together on Anson Bay. It will be a wonderful way to start our day. We have some free time for shopping in the Burnt Pine township and early afternoon Baunti Tours will collect us for the Gardeners Delight Tour. We are taken on a journey behind the scenes to experience a market garden complete with a flower garden and an orchard. A secluded old Island home surrounded by the most amazing gardens; these gardens are irrigated by a hand dug well which was dug in the convict era. Tonight, we can enjoy the iconic Norfolk Island Progressive Dinner, a 3-course meal visiting different Island homes and restaurants. It is a fun night in the company of locals as we enjoy their island dishes.

Day 7

LOCAL IMMERSION THURSDAY 2ND DECEMBER
Baunti Escapes takes us to visit the property of the late Colleen McCullough today. The world-renowned author of 24 books called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years and today we have the opportunity to see into her world. She and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and maintained their privacy to ensure that Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing. Some of her most powerful titles were created in this much loved sanctuary. Her beloved property 'Out Yenna' is now open and we are escorted through her magnificent home where we are able to view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world. We will see where her books were researched and where she worked into the wee hours creating the incredible tales that have sold in their millions in so many different languages. This afternoon we visit a clean, green and sustainable dairy goat farm. We meet Emily from The Hilli Goat - the Norfolk Whey tour where we’ll watch the milking of the goats, walk the edible garden and see the cheese making. A fun and interesting tour that finishes with a delicious array of tastings.

Day 8

NORFOLK ISLAND - SYDNEY - ALBURY FRIDAY 3RD DECEMBER
Having had a wonderful holiday, we now prepare for our return home. Farewelling our hosts we store our luggage at the resort and have some free time to purchase any last minute items. We then transfer to the airport for our flight back to Sydney. Here we clear customs and immigration formalities then make our way to the domestic terminal for our forward flight to Albury. We arrive home this evening with fond memories of being a Norfolk Island local for a short while.
