DAY 2
MORNINGTON PENINSULA TUESDAY 18TH NOVEMBER
This morning, we discover some of the produce this region has to offer. Visiting Pure Peninsula Honey, we hear about and taste a vast range of pure honeys, with delicious varieties like Orange Blossom, Iron bark and Clover just to name a few! You will also have time to explore the farm shop before travelling to Cape Schanck – one of the most picturesque locations on the Mornington Peninsula. The Lighthouse and Keepers Cottages are part of a historical site that has remained unchanged and undisturbed for more than 140 years. Enjoy a guided tour of the Light Keepers Cottage and look through the museum. Afterwards spend time at Mornington Peninsula’s most charming village, Flinders. With a historic streetscape lined with eateries, gourmet produce stores, boutique shops, galleries, and antique outlets, it will be the perfect place to have lunch and explore at your own pace. Next, is Arthurs Seat - the highest point of the Mornington Peninsula. At 300 meters it provides spectacular panoramic views of Port Phillip Bay. On a clear day the view extends as far as the city skyline, the You Yang Mountain Ranges and Mount Macedon. We board the state-of-the-art gondolas and take the 14 minute journey as we travel over state forest making our way to the bottom. Our final visit for the afternoon is to the Red Hill Estate Winery and enjoy a wine tasting while taking in the spectacular views out to Port Phillip Bay before returning to our hotel.
DAY 3
PHILLIP ISLAND WEDNESDAY 19TH NOVEMBER
We have a slightly later start to the day, as tonight we will be returning late after exploring Phillip Island. With just over a 1 hour drive to Phillip Island our first stop is San Remo to watch the daily Pelican feeding at noon. From here it’s a short drive to the Phillip Island Chocolate Factory for lunch before heading to Churchill Island Heritage Farm. In 1976 Churchill Island was bought by the Victorian Conservation Trust and it is now part of, and managed by, the Phillip Island Nature Park. There are historical displays including a museum of old farming machinery. The island is a working farm with highland cattle, sheep, ducks, chickens and Clydesdale horses. We continue our touring this afternoon, as we take a scenic drive along the Island, passing the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit before arriving at the Nobbies Centre. This area offers spectacular coastal scenery as well as viewing the offshore seal colony at Seal Rocks. Heading back a little bit, it’s time for an early dinner at the Rusty Water Brewery Restaurant & Bar. After a lovely meal we head to the Phillip Island Penguin Parade Visitor Centre. Just after sunset, the penguins cross Summerland Beach to return to their sand-dune burrows. To see the penguins come out of the surf in small groups and waddle up the beach is a unique and fascinating spectacle. At the end of the Penguin Parade, we re-board the coach and head back to our hotel arriving late in the evening
