DAY 1

ALBURY – SYDNEY SATURDAY 15TH MARCH, 2025
Welcome to our 9 Day Tour to Norfolk Island . Group to assemble at Albury Airport at 12.15pm for departure at 1.25pm QANTAS QF2206 to Sydney. On arrival at 2.40pm, we have a brief sightseeing drive around Botany Bay and La Perouse before checking into the Rydges Sydney Airport Hotel. Meet our travelling friends over dinner and have an early night, so we are perfectly placed to walk across to the international terminal for our flight to Norfolk Island.

DAY 2

SYDNEY – NORFOLK ISLAND SUNDAY 16TH MARCH
Its an early start today, as we make our way to the Sydney International Terminal for our QANTAS QF0179 flight at 9.45 to Norfolk Island. On arrival at the Norfolk Island airport, we are met by a representative from Pinetree Tours. We will be welcomed to the island then transferred to our accommodation at the South Pacific Resort. Set in lush subtropical gardens with mountain and valley views, we have the perfect surroundings to ease ourselves into our environment. The resort is in the centrally located township of Burnt Pine. The remainder of the day is free so we have the opportunity to wander through the shops. Dinner this evening is at the resort.

DAY 3

DISCOVER NORFOLK ISLAND MONDAY 17TH MARCH
This morning we are collected by Pinetree Tours for their Half Day Island Sightseeing Tour….a must for every visitor! We visit historic Kingston, Cascade, Longridge and much more. See and hear about the famous convict buildings, beautiful beaches and the golf course, the renowned Melanesian Chapel, their Government, laws and lifestyle. We stop for a delicious morning tea in the garden of an island home, then return to our resort. The remainder of the day is at our leisure and tonight, we enjoy the iconic Norfolk Island Progressive Dinner, a 3-course meal visiting different Island homes and restaurants. It is a fun night in company with the locals as we enjoy their island dishes.

DAY 4

MORE OF NORFOLK TUESDAY 18TH MARCH
This morning Baunti Tours takes us to Norfolk Islands first ever Lavender Farm. You’ll hear about the challenges of importing bare rooted plants into the island. Enjoy an easy walk round the farm with the Owner/s. Learn about the 15 different Lavender varieties that have been planted. You’ll also see their other commercial plantings of Sage, Rosemary, Rose Geranium, Sunflowers and other vegetables grown on Fitzy’s Farm. This afternoon visit the magnificent 360 degree panoramic painting at Cyclorama. This is an amazing pictorial history of the ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ which helps us understand the history of Norfolk Island along with the storyboards and maps with interesting detail. Tonight, Pinetree Tours will take us out to enjoy the delightful Island Fish Fry Dinner - a traditional Island Fish Feast with local fish, island dishes, salads and desserts. Overlook breathtaking coastal scenery as the sun sets with live music in the background by local entertainment from the Baunti Byuutis dancing group

DAY 5

LOCAL TOURING WEDNESDAY 19TH MARCH
After breakfast we join Baunti Tours for the Norfolk Today Tour. Learn how Norfolk Islanders live in the 21st century and make life on this tiny South Pacific Island possible. How is petrol and gas brought to the island? How is the island powered? This is a behind the scenes tour to meet the locals and see how Norfolk plays a role in the worldwide weather monitoring as well as visiting the community radio station. Next, we head off to Forresters Court perched high on a clifftop, overlooking Cascade Bay for a delicious High Tea. Served on their magnificent lawns, we’ll enjoy decadent food, a glass of sparkling wine and the glorious scenery.

DAY 6

WOMEN OF NORFOLK THURSDAY 20TH MARCH
At a time to be advised (dependant on tidal activity) we are collected by Pinetrees Tours for our unique Glass Bottomed Boat tour. Our local Norfolk residents will share their knowledge of Norfolk’s marine life. Once we’ve “walked the plank” with these ‘mutineer descendants’ it takes a minute to get to the Reef. View beautiful coral gardens and tropical fish inside the calm crystal waters of Norfolk’s lagoon. They will provide interesting commentary on this environmental tour. This afternoon learn about the captivating stories of Norfolk Island's exceptional women who have played a pivotal role and helped shape its history. We trace the remarkable journeys of Olivia Gascoigne - who faced an imminent death sentence; Aunt Selina Buffet—a woman of enduring influence with an award bearing her name; Marie Bailey - a key figure in Norfolk Island's tourism industry; and Colleen McCullough - celebrated for her literary accomplishments and fervent advocacy for Norfolk Island. Walk in the footsteps of these extraordinary women who have triumphed over adversity and significantly shaped our beloved Norfolk community.

DAY 7

FAMOUS NORFOLK RESIDENTS FRIDAY 21ST MARCH
This morning, we are collected by Pinetree tours for the Green Fingers Garden Tour. This tour features some of the islands loveliest gardens. Throughout the morning we visit a nursery owned and operated by a young Norfolk Islander, a private fruit and vegetable market garden as well as visit a gorgeous private garden with a spectacular view of Kingston and Nepean & Phillip Islands. We will be given a talk on the area with a history dating back to 1788. Morning tea is included in a scenic location. This afternoon visit the property of the late Colleen McCullough. The world-renowned author of 24 books called Norfolk Island home for almost 36 years and today we have the opportunity to see into her world. She and husband, Norfolk Islander, Ric Robinson, created a luxurious hideaway and maintained their privacy to ensure that Colleen had the perfect environment for her writing. Some of her most powerful titles were created in this much-loved sanctuary. Her beloved property “Out Yenna” is now open and we are escorted through her magnificent home where we view Ric and Colleen’s priceless collection of artefacts gathered on their travels all over the world. We see where her books were researched and where she worked into the wee hours creating the incredible tales that have sold in their millions in so many different languages. We complete our interesting day with a fun night out at the South Pacific Resorts Night as a Convict Dinner! We dress as convicts and along with the Commandant, we are in for an evening of gaiety, feasting and singing. Our convict outfits are issued to us for the evening!! Great food! Great fun!

DAY 8

BREAKFAST BUSHWALK SATURDAY 22ND MARCH
Our breakfast setting will be a little different this morning, as we can either take a stroll or, for the more energetic, a leisurely 3.5km walk with Pinetree Tours. We’ll meet up for our BBQ Breakfast together on Anson Bay. It will be a wonderful way to start our day and the remainder of the morning is at leisure to enjoy all that Norfolk Island has to offer. This afternoon we visit the magnificent 360 degree panoramic painting at Cyclorama. This is an amazing pictorial history of the ‘Mutiny on the Bounty’ which will help us to understand the history of Norfolk Island along with the storyboards and maps with interesting detail. We meet again over dinner back at the South Pacific Resort and tonight we travel into the bushland of Norfolk Island and join Pinetree Tours for the Wonderland by Night tour. The setting is 10 acres of magical Norfolk pines and bushland lit up like an enchanted forest. We’ll meander along (or ride in the 'Moon Buggy') a winding pathway with Archie, a descendant of the Bounty Mutineers, as he recites his poems and lights up the dioramas throughout the bush. Afterwards we enjoy a light supper.

DAY 9

NORFOLK ISLAND – SYDNEY – ALBURY SUNDAY 23RD MARCH
Following breakfast, we have the opportunity to join a church service if we wish. If not, perhaps a wander through the Sunday Markets to snap up a bargain or two. Farewelling our hosts, we store our luggage at the resort and have some free time to purchase any last minute items before transferring to the airport for our QANTAS Flight QF0180 departing 2.10pm arriving Sydney at 3.50pm. From the International terminal we transfer to the domestic terminal for our 7.00pm flight to Albury. We arrive home at 8.25pm this evening with fond memories of being a Norfolk Island local for a short while.
