DAY 2

MELBOURNE – BROOME SUNDAY 2ND OCTOBER
Following an early breakfast, we transfer to the Qantas terminal for check in at 8.15am for our direct Flight QF1050 to Broome departing 8.15am arriving 9.50am. Broome is situated on the coast at the southern tip of the Kimberley region. It is bounded by wide sandy beaches and turquoise water and enjoys a warm climate with plenty of sunshine – a perfect place to start our winter holiday! The discovery of rich pearling grounds off the coast in the 1880s led to the foundation of Broome Township in 1883. By 1910 Broome was the world’s leading pearling centre. We’ll learn all about the pearling industry in the next few days, but first, we’ll head to the Broome Courthouse Markets for some free time to purchase lunch. This afternoon we’ll take a sightseeing tour of Broome, then check into our accommodation – unpack and settle in before we meet up again for dinner.

Our visit includes lunch a boat cruise and time for some retail therapy.
Back in Broome we visit the fascinating attraction, Pearl Luggers. It’s often said that Broome’s pearling industry is as rich in culture as it is in pearls.
