Ballarat - Christmas in July - Winter Wonderlights

DAY 1

ALBURY – BALLARAT MONDAY 14TH JULY
Welcome aboard Martins touring Coach for departure from Lavington Shopping Centre, Griffith Road at 6.45am, Albury Rail 7.00am, Wodonga Plaza Smythe Street at 7.15am and Wangaratta Coles, Perry Street 8.10am for our tour to the magical Winter Wonderlights Night-time Display at Sovereign Hill Ballarat. Sit back, relax and meet your fellow travellers as we travel to Bendigo, which has one of the finest collections of Victorian buildings of any inland city in Australia. The streets are literally awash with huge granite edifices. On arrival, board the Talking Tram for an interesting ride through the main areas of Bendigo to see some of these stunning buildings and learn a little about the history of the Goldfields.
Afterwards we have time to explore and purchase lunch. From here we continue through to Ballarat where we settle in for the next two nights.
Tonight, enjoy a traditional Christmas in July Dinner with all the trimmings - the perfect start to our Christmas in July Tour!

DAY 2

BALLARAT AND THE GOLDFIELDS TUESDAY 15TH JULY
See Ballarat from a different perspective today. A local expert will take us on a slightly different kind of tour through Ballarat. The television show, The Doctor Blake Mysteries was filmed in Ballarat and we welcome a specialist guide on board the coach who will point out many of the locations used whilst filming the show. After some free time to purchase lunch, spend the rest of the day at Sovereign Hill, where we step back in time to the golden past and the days of the gold rush. Return to our hotel with time to freshen up before dinner. Then, early evening we return to Sovereign Hill for the highlight of our get-away. We see a transformed Main Street sparkle with a mesmerizing Winter Wonderlights projection show with over 20 of Sovereign Hill’s buildings lit up with large-scale image projections and Christmas themed lights and animations. We have plenty of time here, taking in the magic of the winter wonderlights. It truly will feel like Christmas.

DAY 3

BALLARAT – ALBURY WEDNESDAY 16TH JULY
We farewell Ballarat this morning and take a sightseeing drive to Daylesford.
Like Ballarat, Daylesford is a former gold mining town in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. Just outside the township, we visit the Overwrought Sculpture Garden and Gallery. We will be guided through the inner workings, gaining insight into the design process behind the exquisite garden sculptures. Along with morning tea we also have an opportunity to explore the gardens or wander the gallery, perhaps discovering a cherished piece of our own to take home. Thanking our host, we continue to Seymour stopping for at The Brewer’s Table for lunch before arriving home approximately 6.00pm feeling joyous from our Christmas in July holiday.
