DAY 1

ALBURY – CAIRNS FRIDAY 5TH JUNE, 2026
Welcome to a wonderful experience on our 10 day journey through the rugged beauty of Cape York, the northernmost part of mainland Australia. This unique tour offers a journey through remote landscapes, stunning beaches, and ancient rainforests. Group to assemble at the Albury Airport at 5.30am for departure at 6.45am on Flight QF2202 to Sydney, changing planes to connect with Flight QF0922 to Cairns arriving 12.45pm. Upon arrival, we transfer to our accommodation, taking in the local sights along the way. The rest of the afternoon is at leisure and dinner is a short walk from the hotel at Dundees on the Waterfront restaurant.

DAY 2

CAIRNS – COOKTOWN SATURDAY 6TH JUNE
After an early morning pick up from our hotel, we travel north along the scenic Captain Cook Highway, through the World Heritage Listed Daintree Rainforest and Cape Tribulation, where the rainforest meets the reef. Making our way along the jungle shrouded Bloomfield Track (road conditions permitted), we stop at the unique Lion’s Den Hotel, pass the mysterious Black Mountain, arriving at the old gold port of Cooktown. Here we visit Captain Cooks Landing, before settling into our accommodation.

DAY 3

COOKTOWN – LAKEFIELD NATIONAL PARK – MUSGRAVE SUNDAY 7TH JUNE
Heading west into the outback, we head over the legendary Battle Camp Range to Old Laura Homestead and Lakefield National Park (road conditions permitting), a haven for the many birds and animals native to this area. Lagoons, billabongs, and wide river lakes are home to both fresh and saltwater crocodiles. The afternoon finds us arriving at our overnight accommodation at the Musgrave Roadhouse, which is well known for its former role as a Telegraph Station, one of several that were essential links as communication was established between Thursday Island in the Torres Strait and Mt Surprise.

DAY 4

MUSGRAVE – COEN – ARCHER RIVER – WEIPA MONDAY 8TH JUNE
Continuing north this morning we stop at the historic frontier gold town of Coen and the picturesque Archer River, before making our way to the bauxite-mining town of Weipa. Next, we head to our waterfront accommodation; it’s surrounded by natural beauty and located in the heart of Weipa, where the sunburnt outback meets the ocean. Enjoy the spectacular sunset over the Gulf of Carpentaria.

DAY 5

WEIPA – WENLOCK RIVER – BRAMWELL STATION TUESDAY 9TH JUNE
We experience the Wildlife Eco River Cruise this morning along the harbour and the Embley River to Hay Point and learn about the local culture, history and view the abundant wildlife this area has to offer. After lunch, we head for our overnight accommodation at a ‘true-blue’ Aussie cattle station, Bramwell Station. This was the most northerly cattle station in Australia and continues to offer a variety of services to far northern Cape York Peninsula.

DAY 6

BRAMWELL – FRUIT BAT FALLS – CAPE YORK WEDNESDAY 10TH JUNE
It’s an early start today and we head north travelling along part of the Old Telegraph Track to arrive at Fruit Bat Falls for lunch. Relax, swim, and enjoy this unique area with its enchanting waterfall. Then northwards across the Jardine River, to arrive at Cape York! Our accommodation at Seisia is ideally located for our next few days, being within walking distance from the Seisia Wharf, the departure point for the ferry to Thursday Island and a famous fishing spot. Our accommodation is at the Seisia Holiday Park situated on the beachfront and has stunning views of Red Island.

DAY 7

CAPE YORK – SOMERSET THURSDAY 11TH JUNE
We have an unforgettable day ahead of us! Stand at the very top of mainland Australia! We then visit Somerset (road conditions permitting), once the home of the legendary Jardine family. Enjoy lunch on palm fringed Anchorage Beach which overlooks the Albany Passage. A walk on the beach completes our day before returning to Seisia.

DAY 8

CAPE YORK – THURSDAY ISLAND – CAIRNS FRIDAY 12TH JUNE
An early morning departure sees us cruising through island studded straits to explore our northern community on Thursday Island. Here we will be taken on an informative guided bus tour of the island and its picturesque Harbour, once home to the romantic pearl lugger fleet. We then board the plane at Horn Island for a picturesque flight back to Cairns before transferring to the hotel for dinner.

DAY 9

CAIRNS SATURDAY 13TH JUNE
We have a free day today to relax, explore the town and shops or you have the option to join a day trip. In the evening, we will meet again for our farewell dinner where we can tell stories about our today’s activities.

Optional: Kuranda Scenic Railway & Skyrail Rainforest Cableway $190.00 Per Person
Skyrail Rainforest Cableway – A one-way experience from Smithfield up to Kuranda. The gondola will travel 7.5 kilometres across the rainforest canopy before arriving in the pretty village of Kuranda. There is some free time to take a walk through the village and time to purchase lunch and look through the various arts, crafts and souvenir shops. Early afternoon board the historic Kuranda Scenic Railway for the spectacular train ride through the magnificent Barron Falls National Park to Freshwater Railway Station.  

Optional: Green Island & Great Barrier Reef Cruise   $330.00 Per Person
A complete Great Barrier Reef and Queensland Tropical Island experience. From the hotel it’s a short walk to the Reef Fleet terminal and from here you take a fast 45-minute catamaran ride to beautiful Green Island and enjoy two hours on this unique reef and rainforest coral cay. Then, you depart Green Island to continue the day of adventure and discovery with three hours on board Great Adventures spacious activity platform moored on the majestic Outer Great Barrier Reef. Lunch is included and the afternoon you can snorkel, view the underwater observatory or take a tour in the semi-submersible sub. Late afternoon you arrive back to the Reef Fleet terminal. Tour inclusions: morning & afternoon teas, snorkelling equipment, use of lycra/stinger suit, hot & cold buffet lunch, eco reef talk, semi-submersible tour, under-water observatory.

DAY 10

CAIRNS – ALBURY SUNDAY 14TH JUNE
Our incredible adventure has come to an end as we head to the Cairns Airport for Qantas Flight QF0923 departing 1.40pm to Sydney then departing 7.00pm Flight QF2209 back to Albury arriving 8.20pm with some fantastic memories of our time “up north”!
