Geelong - Q Train - Christmas in July

DAY 1

ALBURY WODONGA – GEELONG THURSDAY 23RD JULY, 2026
Welcome aboard Martins Luxury Coach for our 4 Day Christmas in July Tour on The Q Train.
Depart Lavington Shopping Centre Griffith Road 7.00am, Albury Railway Station 7.15am, Wodonga Plaza Smythe Street 7.30am and Wangaratta Coles Perry St Bus Stop 8.25am stopping at Euroa for morning tea break. Our journey this morning takes us to the Werribee Open Range Zoo where the magnificent wildlife, including rhinos, giraffes, zebras and antelopes will seem almost touchable. Upon arrival we will enjoy lunch at the zoo before boarding our special safari coach to take a drive through the Zoo. You will be completely immersed in the sights and sounds of the savannah as you travel across the Zoo’s open plains. Next we visit Werribee Park Mansion, which has long been regarded as Victoria’s finest rural homestead. Here we experience a guided tour before making our way to Geelong for the next three nights.

DAY 2

CHRISTMAS IN JULY ON THE Q TRAIN FRIDAY 24TH JULY
After a leisurely morning, we visit the National Wool Museum. For most of its history, Geelong has been one of the great wool cities of Australia and nearly 200 buildings in the area are classified by the National Trust, which keeps residents and visitors mindful of the city’s heritage. The museum showcases the Australian wool story – from the sheep’s back to the clothes rack and from the birth of the industry in the 1840’s to its place in the world today. Heading to Drysdale Railway Station we board The Q Train for our special Christmas in July themed rail journey. As the train whistle sounds our journey begins travelling along the beautiful Bellarine Railway, offering views of the rolling hills of the Bellarine Peninsula. Between the set courses of our exceptional degustation menu of fresh local produce, all cooked and prepared onboard the well-appointed kitchen car, you may like to chat to the staff about the history of the train. The Q Train will pause for a period of time at Suma Park Historic Homestead, then runs alongside beautiful Swan Bay, with another stop to enjoy views while you dine and then continue on to Queenscliff. Dessert is served on our return trip from Queenscliff to Drysdale, and as The Q Train closes its return journey into Drysdale Railway station, enjoy a final cup of tea or coffee. Our coach will be waiting for us, and we return to our hotel to complete a memorable day.

DAY 3

DISCOVER GEELONG SATURDAY 25TH JULY
This morning we are introduced to Geelong by a local guide. After our tour we visit the Geelong Library and Heritage Centre. Sophisticated and technology-rich, this world class facility is designed to meet the expectations of 21st century public library users, providing contemporary and innovative library and information services. Within the iconic domed building, there are five public levels – all beautiful, inspiring and inclusive spaces for reading, studying, meeting, discovery and fun. For lunch we are located right on the water at the Geelong Boat House. Then we’re off to the Amazing Mill Markets. There are more than 60 stalls here offering a selection of vintage clothes, vintage furniture, antiques, memorabilia, home décor, jewellery, books and records – just to name a few. 

DAY 4

GEELONG –WODONGA ALBURY SUNDAY 26TH JULY
After breakfast we travel to Overnewton Castle, built in 1849 which now stands as a prominent heritage building. The Scottish Baronial style castle is set amidst four acres of private tranquil English gardens making it the perfect setting for our delightful farewell lunch.
This afternoon we set our sights for home and arrive back late afternoon from a wonderful Christmas in July tour.
