DAY 2

RUGGED BEAUTY OF KING ISLAND SATURDAY 13TH FEBRUARY
Our day begins driving along the scenic rugged southwest coast, in our off-road 4x4 vehicle. Visit the site of Australia's worst peacetime maritime disaster before travelling over the dunes of the Bowling family property, a seventh-generation farming family (where King Island Tours has exclusive access). Morning tea is in a spectacular location. We head towards Surprise Bay where a gourmet lunch awaits us, featuring the best King Island produce - crayfish with matched wines. After lunch, we continue our journey and see the unique 7000-year-old calcified forest and amazing views from Seal Rocks. Dinner tonight is at Australia's award-winning restaurant, Wild Harvest, followed by storytelling with the nocturnal Penguin experience.

DAY 3

NATURES ARCHITECTURE SUNDAY 14TH FEBRUARY
Today we travel to the northern part of King Island for morning tea at Reekara, with local arts and kelp craft made exclusively by local people. Overlooking the two islands - Christmas and New Years Island - is Quarantine Bay. With a fascinating history, we'll learn how King Island was named. Our next stop is Egg Lagoon. The name is believed to come from the finding of a large number of goose eggs in the area. Not too far away is Martha Lavinia, known as a world class beach break. Perfect 'A-frame' waves are formed by swell wrapping around both sides of the island and it is a truly unique natural wonder of the Australian surf scene. While in the area we stop at Penny's Lagoon, a natural phenomenon with its suspended freshwater lake (one of only three in the world). From this point we continue our journey to Cape Wickham Lighthouse, the southern hemisphere's tallest lighthouse and overlooking the famous golf course. A picnic lunch follows. Our final stop for the day is the King Island Dairy for a tasting of its award-winning cheese, including a free gift voucher to use in store. King Island Dairy is an Australian dairy factory, which has operated from King Island since 1902. We conclude our day with dinner at one of the islands restaurants where we continue the gourmet trail.
