Tumbarumba Spring Garden Festival

Itinerary

Travel north via the Hume Freeway to Rosewood then continue onto Gone Barny for a comfort stop and morning tea. Gone Barny is a wonderful family run nursery and café serving Devonshire tea or coffee; you’re invited to wander through and browse the giftware, plants, fabric, and local eucalyptus products. Continue onto Tumbarumba to explore and discover the charm of diverse rural and town open private gardens, each offering something different, with its own allure. In Snow View Estate we firstly visit June & Chris Blake’s garden, a cosy well-loved retiree’s project. Clever design and interesting plantings in a relatively small garden with a restful and satisfying atmosphere. (Easy Access) Close by is Susan Davey’s garden showing what can be achieved in 2 short years with an eclectic mix of exotic plants thriving in the cold climate. (Easy Access, Gravel Paths may be unsuitable for Wheelchairs) From here, continue to the Tumbarumba Showgrounds Stadium to marvel at the Annual Flower Show with an extensive collection of locally grown flowers and also be captivated by the Sculptures and Photography. Enjoy a light lunch here provided by Munday’s Catering containing a salad roll or sandwich, a muffin or brownie and fruit. After lunch, explore the ‘Rob-Lin Lee’ garden. This house and garden was 100 years in the making and is nestled firmly in this space. Perennial flowers amongst the roses, herbs and natives mingle in the rock garden and a home orchard and berry patches are on display. (Easy Access, but some steps within garden) June Grays garden ‘Burraleigh’ is our last garden for the day. Enjoy magnificent deciduous and evergreen trees towering this extensive garden, providing a canopy over many flowering shrubs. Themed spaces include a Mexican patio filled with succulents and cactus, an oriental garden featuring rare Japanese Maples, an Australian native garden and an African nook. (Easy Access). After a memorable and enjoyable day, drive through beautiful pastoral scenery via Lankeys Creek to Holbrook on our return to Albury Wodonga arriving approximately 6.30pm
